8 WBA ASIA titles and 5 WBA ASIA sub-titles on September, 2018

Since we accepted the request to take care of PABA activities from WBA president on October 2016, we have done our best to "RECONSTRUCT" our boxing regional activities under the name of WBA ASIA. Although some barriers are existing, this month is memorable in our history anyway. 8 WBA ASIA titles and 5 WBA ASIA sub-titles have been scheduled on September, 2018. Through these opportunities, we truly hope to spread more the name of WBA in our region as "the original world professional boxing entity". Also, we would develop new area for professional boxing such as India, Nepal, and Vietnam soon. Very appreciated great efforts of all the boxers and promoters.

Dream of Resurrection for Korea Boxing
July 27, 2018 | Written by WBA ASIA

Upcoming WBA ASIA bout in Korea would be a great momentum in Korea boxing.

1980s~1990s are the big golden era for Korea boxing which was the 3rd biggest boxing market in the world. Since mid-1990s, Korea boxing has been downturn and finally became minor sport. Despite the fact that many boxing relates have tried to revive Korea boxing, it was not going through well enough. Korea boxing has experienced very hard time such as no sponsor, no TV. However, they did not gave up Korea boxing with the firmed belief in terms of the potential of Korea boxing.

On July 29, two prospect boxers will be confronted in the ring for WBA ASIA EAST Welterweight title match with live TV. Current WBA ASIA EAST Welterweight champion Ma-Roo Jung was the winner of Korea Welterweight tournament and then, he acquired WBA ASIA EAST title on February 10, 2018. The opponent is Cameroon refugee boxer Heuk-San Lee (Abdoulaye Assan) who has had very hard life time, and tried to overcome his situation through boxing in Korea, and also, he has been well-known boxer through TV documentary about his life.

We, WBA ASIA, firmly believe Korea boxing will revive and we would give big supports for it. Hopefully, this event would be start point for the dream of resurrection for Korea boxing.
